[10] In 1621 the city was besieged via the Bavarians led by Tilly and soon after huge bombardment the city was pressured to surrender plus the Saxons had to leave. The town was then punished for disobedience by considerable repressive actions. This case recurred yet again in 1631 in the event the burghers permitted the Saxons to enter and conquered
